Effective Knowledge Management

Documentation of projects, assessment models and key assumptions are an integral part of the data stored in analyses in the GeoX database.    The system is designed to support and promote documentation on_the_fly -- as assessments are done.    This documentation facilitates use, sharing and learning.

Documentation can be at the overall analysis-level as well as at the level of individual parameter estimates (using the Parameter Input Panel).    There are several documentation vectors:

  • Free text descriptions
  • Properties
  • A generalized stratigraphic column with the depositional environment, lithology, stratrigraphy and lithostratigraphy of reservoir, seal and source rock.  The column can also include the style of the trapping mechanism.
  • Block & licenses
  • Attachments
Documentation can be customized with typed properties.  GeoX 5.8 supports five data types for properties:  date, float, integer, text, closed lists and open lists.

The scheme used to classify depositional environments, lithology, lithostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy can be customized to fit your standards.

Advanced quality assurance functions implemented as verification rules can be customized to promote and support your best practice workflows.   For example, you can specify documentation that needs to be provided in order to save or approve analyses.

The structured documentation (properties, stratigraphic column, block and licenses) can be used to search for and sort analyses.

Versioning with test, approved and historical analyses assures a record of assessments over the life exploration and exploitation life cycle.

Track assessment performance  by comparing pre-drill and post-drill estimates that are stored in the GeoX database.
