Systematic Basin Screening

Systematic, consistent and continuous screening of basins is key to pro-active management of your opportunity pipeline.

The GeoX gBasin tool is a used for doing and recording quick look screening (QLS) of basins worldwide.  The tool can also produce estimates of Yet-To-Find (YTF) resources for basins that are deemed interesting to pursue in more detail.

The basin screening tool is an effective means to summarize, organize and share systematic screening efforts.  The shared data base of basin screening results with play and prospect assessment efforts provides an effective knowledge development and management platform.

The QLS review is based on a combined qualitative and quantitative evaluation of basins (or sub-basins) using custom defined criteria. YTF estimates are based on analysis of total recoverable and YTF resources of one or more assessment units. The assessment unit YTF resources are done using the gPlayR tool.

The basic workflow has three main steps

  1. Quick look screening (QLS) to focus on interesting basins that is summarized in a qualitative evaluation of whether or not to proceed with a more detailed analysis of the yet-to-find (YTF) potential of the basin
  2. For basins with interesting potential, you use gPlayR to support quantitative assessment of the YTF resources in the basic assessment units of the basin
  3. Use the gBasin tool to aggregate estimates of YTF resources for the set of assessment units in the basin. The aggregation assumes that all assessment units do not share risks and have uncorrelated volumes.
